Tickets

I bought a 1-day pass. Does it matter what day I attend? + -
All dates for attending are open ended and may be redeemed for admission as long as the date of admission ticket price is of equal or lesser value than the purchased 1-day pass.
Vouchers are not tickets in and of themselves, and must be presented at the ticketing booth on site at which time a ticket will be issued.
How do I purchase a ticket? + -
Tickets are available on site and online. We do encourage purchasing tickets in advance. On Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, General Admission tickets are $18.95.  On Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, ticket prices for children ages 4 to 12 are eligible for reduced admission of $14.95. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, ticket prices are $14.95 for EVERYONE.
Children 3 and under may enter free of charge on any day.
Can I buy tickets at the event? Is there an extra cost? + -
Yes, tickets may be purchased on site or online in advance. There is no additional cost to purchasing tickets on site, although we do encourage purchasing tickets in advance.
What is the ticket cancellation policy? + -
All ticket sales are final, no refunds or exchanges. Tickets are valid on any day the festival is open as long as the date of admission ticket price is of equal or lesser value to the originally bought ticket. Ticket must be presented at gate to gain admission. In the unlikely event the festival is cancelled all together, refunds will be issued.
My ticket has a date on it, do I have to attend the festival on the date listed on my ticket? + -
Tickets are valid for admission on any day the festival is open as long as the date of admission ticket price is of equal or lesser value than the originally bought ticket.
What happens to my ticket if it rains? + -
The festival is open rain or shine, but may close in case of inclement weather. We will announce all weather closures on our website and social media as soon as information becomes available. Please check online or call before visiting if you are concerned about weather conditions. In case of inclement weather where the festival is cancelled or closes early, ticket rain checks will be offered.
What does my ticket include? + -
Tickets include admission to the walk-through lantern exhibits, acrobatics show, and access to the Global Merchant Pavilion. Merchandise, food, train rides and interactive games are sold separately.
Do I need to print and bring my ticket is purchased online? + -
Yes, please print and present ticket at the gate to gain admission to festival.
Is there a student/senior/military/etc discount? + -
We are offering a 10% military discount in addition to reduced rates for children under 12. To redeem military rate, please present military ID at ticketing booth on site.
Is there a group rate? + -
Group ticket may be purchased both online and on site. For groups of 15 or more, use code GROUP15 at check-out for 15% off tickets. Groups should check-in at Will Call or gate upon arrival.
Is there a season pass? + -
Yes, season passes are $34.95 and are good through Jan 5, 2019. The pass will be issued in the name of the holder and ID will be required each time for entry. Passes may be purchased online or on site.
I received a voucher. How do I redeem it? + -
If you received a physical ticket voucher, you must present your voucher to the ticketing booth on site to redeem. Vouchers are not redeemable online. Vouchers cannot be combined with other offers and cannot be used towards purchases already made.
If I leave the festival, can I reenter the same day without purchasing a new ticket? + -
Yes, visitors can re-enter the festival on the same day by getting a hand stamp upon exiting the grounds. Re-entering visitors must pass through bag check again for security purposes.
What happens if I miss the time printed on my ticket? + -
Ticket times are issued to assist with crowd control, but are not strictly enforced. Dates on tickets open-ended. You may still enter and redeem your admission as long as the date of admission ticket price is of equal or lesser value than the originally bought ticket.
The acrobatics show is included with your ticket, however seating is on a first come, first serve basis. If you miss the first show or cannot find a seat, there will be another show to follow which you can attend.

All tickets have an admission date, and must be redeemed on that date, whether purchased on site or online. Vouchers without a date are not tickets in and of themselves, and must be presented at the ticketing booth on site at which time a ticket with admission date will be issued.
How can I upgrade my general admission ticket to a season pass? + -
With the purchase of a general admission ticket, attendees may upgrade their ticket to a season pass on any day for only $10 at the gate.
What are the festival hours? + -
The festival is open November 21st through January 5th.
On weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and holidays, the festival is open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. On the Wednesdays and Thursdays the festival is open from 5 p.m to 10 p.m. The festival is also open on all holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. The last entry will be permitted no later than one hour before closing.
Illuminate festival is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Planning your visit

Where is the festival being held and how do I get there? + -
The festival is held in the Sugarloaf Mills Mall (formerly Discover Mills) parking lot, facing Bass Pro Shops, Ross, Neiman Marcus, and Jumpstreet and closest to Red Crawfish Seafood & Wings Restaurant. The address for Sugarloaf Mills is 5900 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Coming I-85 S (towards Atlanta), take exit 109 and turn left off the ramp onto Sugarloaf Parkway. Take a right onto N Brown Road at your first major intersection. The mall access road is your first left, and will lead you directly into the parking lot closest to Illuminate.
Coming I-85 N (from Atlanta), take exit 105 for GA 120/Boggs Road. Keep left at the fork following signs for Greenville, then right at the next fork following signs for Lawrenceville. Continue (right) on to GA 120 E/Duluth Highway. Take first left onto N Brown Road, drive past Bass Pro Shops and turn right onto the mall access road for parking nearest Illuminate.
Is parking available for the festival? + -
Yes, free mall parking is available. ADA parking will be designated close by.
Is there an Uber/Lyft designated drop-off site? + -
Direct drivers to Neiman Marcus, H&M, or other nearby store for drop-off nearest event gates.
Is this an indoor or outdoor event? + -
The Illuminate Chinese Lantern Festival is an outdoor walk-through lantern exhibit, open rain or shine (though in severe inclement weather, the festival may close–notice will be posted to website and social media and a rain check issued). The acrobatics show is held in a 500+ seat covered performance tent.
What are the festival hours? + -
The festival is open November 21st through January 1st from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays). The festival is also open on all holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.
What time(s) are the acrobatic performances? Do I need a separate ticket? + -
The acrobat shows begins on December 21st. There will be a minimum of 3 shows per night, including other supplemental entertainment on most nights. Entry is included with price of admission.
The performances will take place in a covered tent that seats 500 people. Seating is first- come, first- serve.
How long should I expect to spend at the festival? + -
We recommend about 2 hours to enjoy the nightly entertainment and to explore our 3 walkthrough lantern exhibits, vendors and food court. Of course, timing depends on how long you and your family/friends personally enjoy lingering at the displays.
How long can I stay at the festival? + -
We would love to say there is no limit to how long you can stay, alas the gates do close at 11 p.m. on weekends and holidays and 10 p.m on Wednesdays and Thursdays. That being said, if you arrive when we open at 5, you can stay as long as you want up until closing!
Is this event appropriate for young children? + -
Yes, of course! The festival was designed with families and children in mind. There are plenty of crafts and activities especially for children throughout the festival, and you’ll want to be sure to have them meet our exhibit mascots (like Bam Bam, everyone’s favorite dancing panda!).
Is photography/videography allowed? + -
Photography and videography for personal/private/scholarly use is allowed and highly encouraged. (In fact, please tag us on social media and consider entering our photo contest!)
Media with heavy equipment should bring media ID/credentials and be prepared to present them at gate. Please no flash during the acrobatics performances.
Special permissions MAY be granted for commercial use photography/videography, depending on the circumstances. Please contact info@theilluminatefest.com to explain intent of usage and seek appropriate permissions.
Are credit cards accepted? + -
Yes, all major credit cards are accepted by Illuminate. Individual vendors may differ. ATMs will be available in the mall.
Are pets allowed? + -
Only certified service animals are permitted on the premises of the festival.
What items are prohibited? + -
The following items are banned from the festival: outside food and drinks (including alcohol), coolers, cigarettes, lighters, chewing tobacco, illegal drugs, controlled substances, weapons or objects that could be used as weapons, bikes, roller skates, skateboards, or other carry-ins as determined by event management. Bags will be searched and there will be metal detectors/hand scanners at the gate — please inform security staff if you have a pacemaker.
What items are allowed? + -
Small bags (backpacks/purses/camera bags) are permitted, as are strollers/wheelchairs/etc. Baby formula and certain other medical/special needs items are exceptions to the no outside food/drink rule – please contact info@theilluminatefest.com with any concerns or questions of applicability.
Is the venue ADA-accessible? + -
Yes, the festival is held in the parking lot of Sugarloaf Mills, and therefore on a relatively flat, single-level asphalt surface conducive to wheelchairs, strollers, and other rolled assistance. Because of the scope of the venue, however, those needing assistance by use of crutches or walker are recommended to bring a rolling method of assistance. There will be large stretches with little opportunity to sit down.
Is smoking allowed? + -
No, smoking of any sort (including vaping) is not permitted on festival grounds.
Are there bathrooms on site? + -
Yes, there will be a station of porta potties on the event site, as well as indoor public restrooms nearby inside the mall.
Where can I find Bam Bam and his friends? + -
Everyone’s favorite dancing panda, Bam Bam, can be found during event hours in the Forbidden City exhibit. Off the clock, who knows where he’ll be next? Get updates on Bam Bam appearances by following Illuminate Georgia on social media.

Food & Drink

What kind of food is available on site? + -
From cultural to fair food, and everything in between! You’ll be sure to find your Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean and your Pan-Asian favorites.
The food court inside the mall is also accessible- just be sure to get a hand stamp upon exiting the festival grounds to ensure you can re-enter issue free!
Can I bring outside food/drink? + -
No, with some exceptions. Baby formula is allowed, along with certain other exceptions for individuals with medical and special needs. If in doubt, please contact info@theilluminatefest.com
Is food/drink allowed in the acrobatics show? + -
No, unfortunately food and drink (even that which is purchased from Illuminate vendors) must be kept put away while in the acrobatics tent. Due to the high frequency of performances, there is not enough time for our cleaning staff to thoroughly come through between shows, and we hope to keep the tent as presentable for guests of the last show as it is for the first.
Do you sell alcohol? + -
No, alcohol is not permitted on festival grounds.

Security

What security is provided at the festival? + -
The festival grounds are under 24 hour surveillance. Bags will be searched at the gate, and there will be metal detectors/hand scanners — people with pacemakers should inform security personnel before going through the detector. No loitering or soliciting is permitted on the premises at any time.
What items are prohibited? + -

Yes, if you have need of first aid please notify the closest event staff and they will procure a kit and assist you with your injury/other health concern. In the event of an emergency, please call 911.

By attending the event, you give permission to have your image and/or likeness reproduced for promotional and/or advertising purposes and/or by the media in print or digital formats.
